February 2026: Packing and unpacking

Last month, everything was about boxes. Packing, unpacking, stacking and shifting – with in between mopping, sweeping and wiping down windows. La Vaisse became lighter, and lighter still. We closed 10 years of Livradois Forez with a cozy "apéro de souvenir", together with the majority of our French and Dutch friends. There was laughter, clinking glasses and reminiscing. A farewell like it should be: warm and valuable.

Then came the real work. In Ambert, the moving company carefully packed our lives for two days. Boxes filled up, furniture was wrapped in blankets, paintings were safely packaged. Impressive how an entire existence disappears into a truck.

In Chavannes, there was a surprise: the truck was too high for the driveway. No panic, but muscle power. With the help of the flat trailer from our neighbor, we (or rather: they) managed to move the furniture from the street to our house. 

Slowly, the feeling of coming home is growing. Two guest rooms are already fresh and furnished – ready for guests and beautiful photos. Step by step, this house is becoming our home. Tiring? Certainly. But above all: special. And we're enjoying it to the fullest!
