July 2026: Doing odd jobs during the heatwave
Our first season is well underway, and we are delighted. We welcome many lovely guests, both from abroad and domestically. It's wonderful to see that both familiar guests from our previous chambres d'hôtes and new visitors find their way to our place and enjoy the peace and nature here. In between all the arrivals and departures, there is also hard work being done to bring and maintain everything in top condition.
After the first major task of this year – removing eight dead trees from the garden – the second major project has now been successfully completed as well. All the shutters have been replaced. It was a significant operation, especially considering the height at which the work had to be done. With a mobile scaffold, a cherry picker, and four enthusiastic professionals, the project was completed in just four days. Despite the summer heat, they delivered excellent workmanship. We are incredibly satisfied with the result.
The garden also received the necessary attention again. During the pleasant stay of our daughter, son-in-law, and their four children, not only did they enjoy each other's company, but they also rolled up their sleeves and got to work. The garden was pruned, and the terrace got a thorough scrub. With the heatwave, it was sometimes quite a challenge, but especially during this period, it's nice to have everything looking fresh and inviting again.
In this way, we combine hosting our guests with continually enhancing our place. We look forward to many more beautiful encounters, cozy conversations, and a summer full of lovely memories.
